Connecting With
Soundscapes

Field-recording walks and deep-listening sits inside a UNESCO soundscape.

The Listening

Five Minutes Changes What You Hear

Close your eyes and listen to the natural sound of wildlife, streams and old trees moving in the wind. It is one of the great ways of relaxing — and five minutes of real listening is usually enough to reveal how much is going on.

The programme works in two modes. Deep-listening sits, where you stay put and do nothing but attend to what arrives. And field-recording walks, for anyone who wants to capture it — dawn chorus, water over rock, the rise and fall of insect noise through the day.

Bring your own recording kit if you have it. If you do not, the sitting alone is the point.
